There are 10 House committees of reference appointed at the beginning of each regular session following a general election. The speaker determines the party representation of the committees in proportion to the relative number of members of the two major political parties in the House.

Listed are major-party contenders who qualified by petitioning onto the ballot, by winning support at party assemblies, or by taking both routes. When it comes to Latino representation, which has been an issue of concern throughout the redistricting process, the new maps create eight Senate districts and sixteen House seats where the population is 30 percent or more Latino. "I don't walk around this building being worried about a motion to vacate," Johnson told reporters on Saturday. "I've done here what I believe to be the right thing and that is to allow the House to work its will. And as I've said, you do the right thing and you let the chips fall where they may." The rebellion puts Johnson's job at risk if Democrats don't step in to save him if the group of hardliners forces a vote. But Greene hasn't given a timeline for if and when she plans to force a vote.
